Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeries

Advanced Laparoscopic surgeries are considered the gold standard for a large number of diseases and complex surgical procedures. It commonly includes laparoscopic splenectomy, lap hiatus hernia surgery, complex abdominal wall reconstructions for ventral hernia, video-assisted thoracic surgeries, and laparoscopic colorectal surgeries. This hospital will be the first to have 4K laparoscopy suite.

The advanced techniques used at Accord Super Speciality Hospital help in the speedy recovery of the patients with a minimal amount of tissue damage, minimal blood loss, reduced risk of developing an infection.

Hence, minimal pain and discomfort.

Endovenous Surgery

Endovenous surgery is a subspecialty specifically for the treatment of varicose veins and venous ulcers of the leg. Various modalities such as Thermal techniques (Laser Ablations and Radiofrequency Ablation) and Non-thermal techniques (Foam sclerotherapy and Mechanochemical Ablations) are specifically tailored depending on the patient's symptoms and clinical condition.

We at Accord Superspeciality Hospital ensure specially tailored treatment as per symptoms and clinical conditions for endovenous surgery.

Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeries

Bariatric surgery is a long-term treatment for obese individuals. Metabolic operations are carried to treat hormonal disorders and improve insulin secretion for people having diabetes.

The benefits extend well beyond weight loss and include dramatic improvement in control of Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension and Dyslipidemia and also reduces overall morbidity and mortality rate.

At our department our surgeons help manage obesity and its related comorbidities by performing bariatric-metabolic procedures. Some of them include:

  • Lap Sleeve Gastrectomy- In this procedure, the 2/3rd of the stomach is removed by laparoscopy using endoscopic staplers leaving behind the narrow gastric tube or sleeve.
  • Lap Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass: It is a type of bariatric surgery wherein the upper stomach size is reduced by using the laparoscopic technique. This allows the food to pass directly from the stomach to the jejunum of the small intestine, thereby restricting the absorption of nutrients and calories on its way.
  • Lap Mini gastric bypass: In this reversible surgery, some part of the intestine is bypassed by a laparoscopic procedure.
  • Revision Bariatric Surgery

Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery: Our experienced surgeons provide treatment for disorders such as cancer of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, and gallbladder. Some of the procedures involved are:

  • Lap Cholecystectomy: It is a minimally invasive surgery that makes use of laparoscopy to take out the complete gallbladder when gallstones have led to pain, inflammation, and infection.
  • Lap /open Surgery for benign/malignancy diseases of the pancreas: Both traditional open and laparoscopic procedure (minimally-invasive) are available for removal of benign or cancerous lesions of the pancreas.
  • Lap Splenectomy: It is a laparoscopic procedure (involving small incisions) to remove the spleen in case of abdominal injuries or treat splenomegaly (enlarged spleen), cancers, tumors, cysts, infections, or blood disorders.

Upper GI Surgery: The gastroenterologists and the GI surgeons of the department perform surgeries to treat upper Gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach, and small intestine) disorders. Some of the minimally-invasive procedures performed are:

  • Lap fundoplication: It is done to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia by restoring the function of the sphincter that connects the esophagus to the stomach. This is possible by wrapping the fundus of the stomach around the esophagus.
  • Lap Cardiomyotomy: It operates the achalasia of the cardia and allows the food and fluids to enter into the stomach without hindrance.
  • Laparoscopic/open surgeries for benign and malignant diseases of stomach and duodenum.

Hernia Surgery: The expert surgeons carry out laparoscopic surgeries for hernia repair, such as:

  • Lap Inguinal Hernia: This includes the most common transabdominal preperitoneal repair and extraperitoneal repair for treating inguinal hernias.
  • Lap IPOM hernioplasty: This is used to treat ventral hernias (abdominal wall defect) by Lap. Intraperitoneal Onlay Mesh technique.
  • Lap TEP: It treats paraumbilical or ventral hernia by extended totally extraperitoneal retromuscular repair.

Advanced Hernia repair surgeries: includes abdominal wall reconstruction using methods like

  • Pre-op Botulinum toxin
  • Lap/Open Component Separation: In this procedure, abdominal wall portions are incised for mobilization of the muscles which is joined in the middle of hernia repair and sutured
  • various other procedures

Lower GI and Colorectal Surgery:

  • Laparoscopic procedures to eliminate the malignant or benign conditions of the lower GI tract, colon, and rectum.
  • Lap appendectomy to excise the entire appendix when it gets infected or becomes malignant.
  • Total Mesorectal Excision: It is done to treat colorectal cancer by removing a part of the bowel for a malignant tumor.

VATS (Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery): It treats chest-related conditions using a thoracoscope (a tube fitted with a camera) and surgical instruments. It is done for:

  • Decortication and Empyema Drainage: It is done in case of persistent lung infection to expand the underlying lung parenchyma.
  • Bullectomy: It excises bulla (a dilated air space of more than 1 cm) from lung parenchyma.
  • Thymectomy: It involves complete removal of the thymus gland to treat Myasthenia gravis patients.
  • Pneumonectomy/Lobectomy: It removes the abnormal part of the lungs.

Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery: It involves making only one incision to insert laparoscopes and carry out procedures like Cholecystectomy, Appendectomy, and Hernia Repair.

Laser Proctology: It is the minimally-invasive procedure wherein lasers are used to treat conditions associated with the colon, rectum, and anus. It includes the Laser ablation for hemorrhoids, pilonidal sinus (abnormal hair growth in tailbone region), and anal fistula.

Advanced wound care clinic:
  • Provides highly advanced wound care methods used for management of acute/chronic wounds resulting from diabetes, venous insufficiency, peripheral vascular disease, traumatic injury, burns & other causes.
  • This hospital will provide specially trained staff for wound care along with sterile areas allocated for the same.
  • Provision for revascularization surgeries and debridement procedures have been made to salvage the limb and provide the best possible result.
  • Along with this, this hospital will provide rehabilitation services for those in need.
